Standard Analysis

The Standard Analysis window is the primary workspace of the Grid-Based Analysis application. It provides interactive visualization and analysis of seismic source parameters interpolated onto the selected grid and planes.

Within this window, the active grid and planes are displayed in 3D, with markers representing calculated seismic parameters at each discretized location.

Analysis Controls

Navigate to:
Standard Analysis → Panels → Analysis Controls

The core analysis parameters (e.g. Rmin, Rmax, minimum number of events) are initialized using default values as described in the Grid Based Analysis Parameters.

Users may override these parameters as required to suit site-specific conditions or analysis objectives. Any changes are applied immediately to the analysis results.

Event Filters

Navigate to:
Standard Analysis → Panels

Event filtering options are available through the same controls used in General Analysis, including filters based on:

  • Date ranges
  • Event parameter ranges
  • Location and volume filters

These filters control which seismic events contribute to the grid and plane calculations.

Visualizing Results

Several visualization tools are available to aid interpretation of grid and plane results.

Clipping and Slicing

The clipping and slicing functions allow the grid to be sliced, enabling focused analysis of results at specific level elevations or along specified planes.

Marker Size

Grid marker size can be scaled using an alternate seismic parameter, independent of marker colour.
For example, markers can be coloured by stress proxy parameters while being sized according to deformation proxy parameters, allowing damaged and intact regions to be visually differentiated.

Transparency

Transparency controls can be used to emphasize or suppress specific value ranges within the grid. A transparency shape function is used to highlight lower, middle or upper solid. (link page defining the transparency controls for markers). TODO

Transparency can be defined based on:

  • Event density or result quality
  • Current parameter
  • An alternate seismic parameter
  • Single value

This functionality is particularly useful for highlighting regions with reliable results or isolating areas of interest.

Result Filtering

Grid points can be filtered based on their calculated result values.
Some common use cases include:

  • Highlight high-stress or high-hazard areas
  • Isolate areas with minimal deformation or damage
  • Highlight areas based on dominant mechanism
  • Remove low-significance results from the visualization

Marker Range Overrides

The visual range of markers can be controlled using Standard Analysis → Panels → Marker Range Overrides by defining the minimum and maximum values.

Adjusting marker ranges allows users to:

  • Improve visual contrast for parameters
  • Emphasize critical value ranges while suppressing less significant variation
  • Maintain consistent visual scaling when comparing results across different datasets or time periods

Marker range overrides affect visualization only and do not modify the underlying calculated results.

Isosurfaces

Isosurfaces provide a visual indication of where data density and result quality are highest. Grid points located within the isosurface generally represent regions with sufficient event coverage and more reliable interpolated results.

Distribution Chart

Histogram and cumulative distribution plot are available to assess the statistical distribution of grid results. The chart assists in threshold selection, anomaly identification, and comparative analysis between datasets.

Results Tables

Detailed numerical outputs and event details are available in tabular format under:

  • Standard Analysis → Tables → Grid Results
  • Standard Analysis → Tables → Surface Results
  • Standard Analysis → Tables → Events

These tables provide full access to interpolated values, supporting detailed review, quality control, and export for reporting or further analysis.
